Lately, Robert Long has been getting a lot of questions from employees.
The human resources director at C.A.P.S. Inc., a manufacturer of plastic lids for consumer staples such as Parmesan cheese and spice containers, works less than a mile from the Bridgeton Landfill.
Some of the 130 employees at C.A.P.S. have asked whether there’s a potential for an explosion should an underground fire at the Bridgeton Landfill reach radioactive waste in the adjacent West Lake Landfill.
“We’re not panicking,” he said. “We know everyone’s keeping an eye on it. But we want to be prepared.”
