WCA Waste LFGTE Project Begins Operations

A landfill gas-to-energy (LFGTE) project at WCA Waste’s Oak Grove Landfill in Arcadia, Kan., began operations in March. A ribbon-cutting ceremony honoring the project is slated for Friday, April 23.

WCA Waste developed the LFGTE facility with Matthews, N.C.-based Enerdyne Power Systems. The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities purchases all of the 1.6 megawatts of electricity generated by the project. The LFGTE facility produces enough electricity to power approximately 1,000 households.
