Seattle Looks to Boost Recycling at Apartments

lynn Schenkman

Seattle -- Seattle Public Utilities has mailed more than 84,000 blue recycling bags to tenants of multi-family residences this week. The bags are part of a campaign to rejuvenate a declining recycling rate and boost recycling efforts in apartments and other multi-unit dwellings. The tote-sized bags are free and reusable. The city utility hopes the bags will be used to store and separate glass, plastic and paper and that they will be used to carry these items to the building’s recycling containers.
