Washington, D.C. — Pepco, a subsidiary of electricity provider Pepco Holdings Inc., has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a national WasteWise Program Champion for its waste reduction and recycling efforts last year.

In 2001, the company recycled nearly 900,000 gallons of used motor oil and dielectric fluid, and 1,000 gallons of antifreeze; purchased $28,000 of recycled-content office supplies; and hosted last year's Washington-area WasteWise Partner Roundtable.
