Milwaukee – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington, D.C., has named Onyx Waste Services Inc. the Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) Industry Partner of the Year. The program rewards partnership efforts among companies that use landfill gas as a renewable energy source and prevent methane emissions. EPA chose Onyx based on projects at three of its landfills in St. Louis, Zion, Ill., and Mayville, Wis. The green energy produced at these facilities is provided to end users that include DaimlerChrysler, Alliant Energy and Commonwealth Edison.
