Washington, D.C. -- The National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) has established two guidelines on how to deal with terrorist activity and how to handle anthrax.
The first guideline offers recommendations on precautions for collecting waste from potentially contaminated sites and for protecting workers from anthrax. The second guideline teaches managers how to protect employees and secure equipment.
"The key to NSWMA's recommendations is to remind waste companies to be more alert in securing their equipment and their customer containers," says Chaz Miller, NSWMA's director of state programs. "We also wanted to provide waste companies with guidance on how to protect their employees from harm, and when to decide whether to pick up waste from a potentially contaminated facility."
