Gas Company Joins EPA STAR Program

Raleigh, N.C. -- North Carolina Natural Gas has become a partner in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Natural Gas STAR Program, which is designed to reduce methane emissions by encouraging the use of cost-effective technologies and practices.

Natural Gas STAR is a voluntary program between the EPA and the natural gas industry. Methane is considered a greenhouse gas contributing to global warming, and STAR partners have eliminated more than 120 billion cubic feet of methane emissions and have saved about $360 million since the program began in 1993.

The partnership includes more than 80 companies and is endorsed by 11 industry trade associations. For more information about the program, visit
