Melrose Park, Ill. -- Five people were killed and four others injured when gunfire broke out at a suburban Chicago Navistar engine plant Monday morning. The shooter was a former employee who was about to begin a 5-month prison term for federal consipracy to commit theft. Located 15 miles from the company's Chicago headquarters, the plant where the shooting occurred employs 1,400 people.
