EPA to Release Dioxin Report

Washington, D.C. — After studying chlorinated dioxins, which are air pollutants resulting from plastic and medical waste incineration, for more than 10 years, a team of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) scientists says that the compounds pose a cancer risk. Currently, dioxin emissions control is voluntary, but this report could provide a foundation for mandatory federal regulation of dioxin emissions.
