China To Crack Down on E-Waste

Beijing -- In response to a recent report uncovering the hazards of illegally exporting electronic waste (e-waste), China has agreed to crack down on imports such as computers, printers and circuit boards to cut down on the damages to its people and environment.

Chinese environmental officials also will shut down factories where toxic chemicals from e-waste are being released by improper recycling. The agreement did not specify what other actions will be taken on e-waste importation.
