Rutland, Vt. — Casella Waste Systems Inc. has announced the sale of a Virginia Facility to Waste Management Inc., Houston; the Acquisition of a Maine Paper Recycler; and the completion of a purchase. Casella sold a recycling facility it operated in Alexandria, Va., to Recycle America Alliance, a subsidiary of Waste Management. Casella said it would receive approximately $875,000 in net proceeds from the sale. The company also purchased William Goodman &Sons, a Scarborough, Maine-based independent recycling company for approximately $2.8 million. Casella completed the purchase of the Hardwick Sanitary Landfill, Hardwick, Mass.
