Atlanta Lays Off Sanitation Workers

Atlanta -- Atlanta city council members voted 8-7 on Monday to fire 66 of the city's sanitation workers in July, rather than raise property taxes to keep their jobs. The sanitation department faces a $12 million deficit. Council members have argued that the department is sub-standard because trash is not picked up properly.
