Waste Management to Offer Curbside Recycling of CFLs in California

On Monday, Houston-based Waste Management will begin a one-year pilot program in which curbside recycling of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) will be offered to residents of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.

Waste Management will mail specially designed containers that can hold up to 13 CFLs to Rolling Hills residents. When a container is full, a resident can call Waste Management, and the hauler will pick it up from the curbside.

“This is just one more thing we can cross off the list of hard-to-dispose items,” said Vickie Wippel, community relations manager at Waste Management, in a press release. “Now that we've made recycling CFLs easier than ever, I hope more and more Rolling Hills Estates residents will start using them and incorporate another sustainable practice into their daily lives.”
