Samsung Electronics America has recycled 12 million pounds of e-waste in 2009. Samsung Direct is the manufacturer’s recycling program, and the program allows consumers to drop off their e-waste at more than 200 centers across the United States.

“Samsung has always been known for our top consumer electronics,” said David Steel, senior vice president of strategic marketing for Samsung Electronics America, in a press release. “Now we are utilizing our expertise in cutting-edge technology to make our products greener, increasing their energy efficiency, as well as improving the manufacturing and distribution processes behind them. Our sustainability commitment is holistic in our 360 degree approach, addressing the impact of our products from creation to discard.”
