Phoenix-based Republic Services posted a net income of $120.5 million on $2.07 billion in revenue during the third quarter of 2009. For the same period in 2008, the firm reported a net income of $88.7 million on $834 million in revenue.

Bear in mind that Republic’s third-quarter numbers have been bolstered by the firm’s purchase of Allied Waste Industries, a transaction that was finalized in December 2008.

For the first nine months of 2009, Republic Services posted a net income of $459.4 million on $6.20 billion in revenue. For the same period in 2008, the firm reported a net income of $205.5 million on $2.44 billion in revenue.
