Houston — Waste Management Inc., Houston, has won the bidding for the motorcycle that Jay Leno was auctioning off to help victims of the recent tsunami. On behalf of his company, Waste Management CEO David Steiner submitted a winning bid of $800,100.
The motorcycle was featured on the "Tonight Show" set for the past several weeks and features the autographs of the show’s recent guests.
"Like many U.S. companies, Waste Management felt a need to support the tsunami relief effort," Steiner says. "The auction presented us with the opportunity to continue our support efforts and also gives us an opportunity to use the bike as an employee pride builder."
Waste Management also currently has a program in which it matches its employees’ tsunami relief donations.
