Virginia Trash Imports Continue To Rise

Virginia landfills accepted 7.8 million tons of trash imports last year, according to an annual report released by the state’s Department of Environmental Quality. The amount represents an 18 percent increase from 2003, the report says. The majority of the trash imports came from Maryland, New York and Washington, D.C.
