Silver Spring, Md. — The Silver Spring, Md.-based Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), the Calistoga, Calif.-based Association of Lighting and Mercury Recyclers (ALMR) and the Rosslyn, Va.-based National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) have released an educational CD-ROM that promotes the recycling of mercury-containing lamps.

The CD-ROM contains a short video overview of mercury recycling issues, state-by-state recycling resources, and a summary of regulatory issues, among other items. "SWANA is very pleased with the outcome of this project," says John H. Skinner, executive director and CEO of SWANA. "Promoting the recycling of mercury lamps is just one way to advance the practice of economically and environmentally sound solid waste management."
