Republic Services Reports Rise in Net Income, Revenues

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — Republic Services has reported a second-quarter net income of $60.9 million, or $.39 per diluted share, on total revenues of $683 million. In the same period in 2003, the firm reported $60.4 million in net income on total revenues of $637.3 million. Operating income for second-quarter 2004 was $116.2 million, up from $113.5 million one year earlier.

For the first six months of 2004, the company reported a net income of $117.8 million, or $.75 per diluted share, on total revenues of $1.3 billion. During the same period in 2003, the firm reported a net income of $115 million, or $.70 per diluted share, on total revenues of $1.2 billion. Operating income for the first half of 2004 was $226.2 million, compared with $218.9 million for the same period last year.
