Hewlett-Packard (HP), Palo Alto, Calif., introduced its Consumer Buyback and Planet Partners Recycling Program to divert e-waste from landfills by refurbishing it for further use or recycling it.
The service is free and accepts PCs, monitors, printers, digital cameras, personal digital assistants and smart phones of any brand. In some cases, consumers can get cash for their e-waste.
“As part of the HP Eco Solutions program, we offer practical solutions that make it easy for customers to go green,” said Tony Prophet, senior vice president of HP, in a press release. “The HP Consumer Buyback and Planet Partners Recycling Program is yet another example of HP’s longtime commitment to reducing environmental impact by providing a convenient way for customers to responsibly recycle electronics.”
