Oak Brook, Ill. — Federal Signal Corp., Oak Brook, Ill., has announced that it will consolidate Leach and Wittke, its two leading North American refuse-body manufacturers, into a single Leach brand. "Since Federal Signal acquired Leach and Wittke two years ago, we’ve done extensive research to determine what these two brands represent in the marketplace," says Steve Baker, vice president, sales and marketing for Federal Signal’s Environmental Products Group. "In the end, we found that supporting two brands added little value for our company, our dealers and especially our customers. Therefore, we are moving forward with this single-brand strategy."

Federal Signal has made a tentative decision to consolidate the production of all front-, rear- and side-load refuse bodies into its current manufacturing site in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. The company estimates the transition will take about nine months.
