Allied Waste Names Charles Cotros To Its Board

Scottsdale, Ariz. — Allied Waste Industries Inc. has appointed Charles H. Cotros to its board of directors. Cotros retired from Sysco Corp. at the end of 2002 following a 43-year career in the foodservice distribution industry that included a 28-year stint with the firm. He held various management positions with the company and, in 2000, became its CEO and the chairman of its board.

"We are pleased to announce the addition of another high caliber independent director to our board," said Tom Van Weelden, chairman and CEO of Allied Waste Industries. "We look forward to benefiting from his extensive knowledge and first-hand experience with consolidation and operational excellence."
