Work continues on expanding the landfill gas collection system at the Ontario County landfill. Landfill manager Casella Waste Systems Inc. announced the work includes replacing gas wells that were abandoned as part of a recent project involving landfill cover.
Pending further approval from the state Department of Environmental Conservation, Casella stated it proposes installing 8 new vertical wells along the upper north section of the landfill on Routes 5 and 20 in the town of Seneca.
