With an umbrella shielding him from the cold rain, Finger Lakes Railway President Mike Smith stood in Academy Square Wednesday, discussing the benefits of transporting material by railroad instead of truck.
He was trying to convince 20 protesters of those merits.
Some of the protesters carried signs adorned with “We Are Not A Dumping Ground,” “No More Garbage,” “No More Trash Here,” “Stop the NYC Trash Deal” and “Enough Is Enough.”
Many wore masks over their faces.
