Rockhampton Regional Waste and Recycling (RRWR) has officially opened the doors of the Lakes Creek Road Waste Transfer Station.
Chair of Council's Business Enterprise Committee, Cr Neil Fisher greeted community members this morning, who were some of the very first to try out the new facility.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to see this area a hive of activity this morning," Cr Fisher said.
"It majorly improves waste disposal for our community. It provides a safer and more controlled waste disposal point. It's easily accessible and definitely more convenient.
"It's not surprising to be hearing some really positive comments from the community this morning."
The Transfer Station was part of a large scale upgrade of the Lakes Creek Road landfill site totaling just over $13 million.
