MRFs Brace for First Wave of Holiday Waste

Gallery-MRFs Brace for First Wave of Holiday Waste

Republic Services; Casella Waste Systems; Kent County, Mich., Recycling and Education Center; Lakeshore Recycling Systems; and Waste Management discuss how they are bracing for the first wave of holiday waste.

Materials recovery facilities (MRFs) are gearing up for the mega volumes of holiday waste headed for their tipping floors. Machinery only goes so fast, so managers are making the most of existing resources. They’re doing a little advanced planning around operations, and they’re putting a seasonal shout out to customers about what can and can’t go in the bin.

Still, from past experience, operators know to expect almost anything to come through, and they will just deal with it.

Republic Services; Casella Waste Systems; Kent County, Mich., Recycling and Education Center; Lakeshore Recycling Systems; and Waste Management shared with Waste360 what they’re doing as the first wave of holiday waste is about to roll in.
