The can has a storied history beginning around the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte who offered a prize of 12,000 francs to anyone who could invent a method of preserving food for France's army and navy.

With the ability to infinitely recycle both aluminum and steel, the average beverage can boasts a 46% recycling rate and contains 73% recycled content.
