Waste Pro USA Inc. has bought Mississippi Waste Disposal Inc. (MIWD), the state’s largest privately owned commercial solid waste firm.
The Columbus, Miss., based MIWD serves seven counties in Mississippi and Alabama. It provides disposal, recycling, demolition, and collection services for industrial and commercial waste, Waste Pro said in a news release. No purchase price was given for the purchase of MIWD, which began operations in 1971.
The acquisition gives Waste Pro five locations in Mississippi. “Our growth in Mississippi is very intentional; provide great equipment and superior service to grow organically and by acquisition,” said John Jennings, president and chief executive officer of Waste Pro. Waste Pro currently provides services in Columbus, Hattiesburg, Jackson, Meridian, Natchez, the Gulf Coast and Vicksburg.
“Our team is thrilled to join the distinguishable difference at Waste Pro,” said Hayden Crume, former owner and president of MIWD.
Waste Pro is based in Longwood, Fla., and operates in seven southeastern states.
It serves more than 1.4 million customers, operates from 70 locations and maintains more than 112 exclusive municipal contracts and franchises.
