VLS Environmental Solutions Acquires SRE Environmental, Expanding Wastewater Portfolio

Houston-based VLS Environmental Solutions has solidified the acquisition of SRE Environmental.

Phoenix-based SRE provides commercial and industrial wastewater management solutions nationwide. SRE’s evaporation ponds provide low carbon disposal solutions for compatible wastewaters, according to the company. Its facilities use solar evaporation for treatment and are designed for zero discharge and zero processing.

“The acquisition of SRE adds valuable talent, high-quality assets, and new customer relationships that enhance our nationwide suite of sustainable solutions for our clients," said John Magee, CEO of VLS. "The combination of SRE and our new waste facility in Quartzsite, Ariz., which will offer non-hazardous solidification and waste-to-energy processing capabilities, accelerates our ability to meet the growing needs of our clients in the western market.”

Once the combination is complete, VLS will have more than 1,000 employees and 40 locations throughout the United States. The acquisition is VLS' fourth in the last 12 months and 12th since 2017.

The company stated it is "actively pursuing both organic and inorganic opportunities to continue to expand its environmental services capabilities to support the waste processing needs of its clients."v

“We are thrilled to join VLS," commented Gary Pedersen, SRE Environmental CEO. "This immediately expands our suite of services for our current clients, and we look forward to providing expanded best-in-class environmental solutions to all VLS clients across our growing footprint.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. VLS is a portfolio company of I Squared Capital. Mayer Brown LLP served as legal advisor to SRE, and Kirkland & Ellis LLP served as legal advisor to VLS and I Squared Capital.
