Upstate Shredding LLC-Ben Weitsman has acquired Capitol Scrap Metal Co. for an undisclosed cash amount.
Owego, N.Y.-based Upstate Shredding said in a news release that it purchased the assets of the Albany, N.Y.-based Capitol Scrap as part of its emphasis on expanding its footprint in the Albany market.
The Capitol assets will help Upstate Shredding consolidate into a mega-yard at its current Albany location, where it opened a retail scrap yard and export facility last August.
“This facility is strategically located to help us continue to grow our Albany region market, and to feed our new shredder and export facility at the port of Albany,” said Adam Weitsman, owner of Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman.
Capitol Scrap recycles ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper, brass, lead, stainless steel, cast iron, steel, scrap auto parts and batteries, insulated copper and electric motors.
