Rizzo Buys Royal Oak Recycling in Michigan Deal

Rizzo Environmental Services (RES) Inc. has acquired Royal Oak Recycling for an undisclosed amount.

The Sterling Heights, Mich.-based Rizzo purchased the Royal Oak, Mich.-based company, which officially is V & M Corp., a Midwest recycler of paper, plastic and metal materials. Royal Oak’s offerings include the collection, sorting and processing of those materials, the firm said in a news release.

The purchase brings Rizzo into the recycling market with significant scale. “Royal Oak Recycling has a great reputation as an area leader in recycling,” said Chuck Rizzo Jr., CEO of Rizzo Environmental. “RES’ emphasis in promoting recycling made this acquisition a priority for us.”

Habib Mamou, president of Royal Oak Recycling, will now serve as the head of RES’ recycling division.

Rizzo provides curbside collection service for municipal solid waste (MSW), recycling and composting, as well as commercial collection in southeast Michigan. The company serves 31 municipalities in three counties in the region.
