Fortistar has acquired compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station producer Vocational Energy for an undisclosed amount.

The White Plains, N.Y.-based Fortistar, a renewable energy company with interests in landfill gas and biomass, bought a majority interest in Tampa, Fla.-based Vocational Energy through its affliliate, TruStar Energy LLC, according to a news release.

TruStar Energy will continue Vocational Energy’s construction business and expand by offering long-term fuel supply agreements to companies wanting to convert their fleets to CNG.  It also will use Fortistar's supply of landfill gas as a renewable component to the fuel supply.

The firms expect a future division to provide operations and maintenance services to owners of CNG facilities.
