Article-Chicago Waste, Recycling Firms Merge to Form Lakeshore Waste

Lakeshore Waste Services LLC and Recycling Systems Inc. have merged to form Lakeshore Recycling Systems LLC (LRS) to serve the Chicago area.

LRS will provide commercial, residential, recycling and roll-off waste collection services to commercial and municipal customers. The company also owns and operates the largest material recovery facility in Illinois, processing nearly one million tons of waste annually, according to a news release from Livingstone Partners, a Chicago-based investment firm that advised on the merger.

Lakeshore Waste is based in Morton Grove, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, and Recycling Systems is headquartered in Chicago. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lakeshore Recycling will emphasize waste material management, including recycling, beneficial reuse and landfill diversion.

Josh Connell, CEO of Lakeshore, said the merger along with capital from investment partners Tensile Capital Management of San Francisco and Comerica Bank of Dallas, “will allow us to rapidly expand from our combined position as a top three independent in Chicagoland.”
