Alterna Equity Partners Acquires Bulk Express Transport

A South Florida-based private equity firm has finalized the purchase of Bulk Express.

Alterna Equity Partners has acquired the Miami-based company's portfolio including Bulk Express Transport, Soil Tech Distributors, M3 Transport and Inter City Disposal. 

Bulk Express provides professional transportation and logistics services including municipal solid waste, recyclables, aggregates, construction & demolition debris, contaminated soils, ash, sludge and other specialty materials, as well as waste transfer station management, loading and unloading, and on-site landfill services.

The company's largest line of business is the transportation of various waste streams from large major waste transfer stations to landfills, waste-to-energy plants and recycling facilities. Bulk's customer based is comprised of waste services companies, environmental services companies, recyclers, manufacturing companies and municipalities. It has four operational hubs in Miami, Tampa, Orlando and Brooksville, Fla.

Mijares will continue as a full-time advisor for Steve Worster who has been appointed CEO. Worster previously was CEO at Custom Ecology. 

Worster commented that “this new partnership opportunity with AEP will allow the company to lead our market in making advancements toward reducing landfill input while also reducing carbon emissions. This segment of the market is in need of enhanced efforts to modernize and promote environmental sustainability in order to keep pace with the expectations of our customers and investors. AEP is committed to partnering with us in this effort.”

AEP also has partnered with industry veteran Vince Cornell, who has decades of experience in trucking, transportation and logistics.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
