Alter Buys Metal Recycling Firm CMI-TMC

Scrap metal firm Alter Trading Corp. has bought metal recycler CMI-TMC Holdings Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

St. Louis-based Alter said in a news release that with the acquisition of the Columbus Neb.-based CMI-TMC it added six facilities, including two Nebraska shredders in Columbus and Kearney, and two auto parts facilities. The addition of the ISO 9001 and 14001-certified CMI-TMC makes Alter the largest metal recycling company in Nebraska, and is “an excellent addition to Alter’s western region,” said Jay Robinovitz, Alter president and chief operating officer.

Alter now has 51 metal recycling facilities in the United States.
