Everyone knows about the evolving ton in recycling. But the evolving ton in landfills is even more dramatic. While packaging changes impact the quality of recyclables, landfills experience changes to their material stream from a host of policies and regulations, as well as from consumer behavior and natural disasters. As consumer products are increasingly diverted, landfills are accepting a greater amount of special waste such as coal ash or technically enhanced naturally occurring radioactive materials (T-NORM). Our panelists will discuss these special wastes and provide expert guidance on best practices.
