Announcement

  • Pat Perry, group manager for environmental services at Target Corp., has been elected chair of the Buy Recycled Business Alliance (BRBA) Steering Committee. Susan A. Mills, manager, environmental practices, for OfficeMax, also has been elected vice chair of the committee.



Certification

  • Sweco, Florence, Ky., has achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 registration as defined in the ISO 9000:2000 Quality Management System Standard.



Clarification

  • “Paper Recovery Up,” a story in the Tip Off section of August's Waste Age, page 10, failed to identify the first name and title of Chaz Miller, the state programs director for the National Solid Wastes Management Association in Washington, D.C. Waste Age regrets the error.



New Offices

  • Sims Group, Richmond, Calif., has opened an e-waste demanufacturing facility in Hayward, Calif.

Stephen Ursery is the editor of Waste Age magazine. During his time as editor, Waste Age has won more than 20 national and regional awards. He has worked for Penton Media since August 1999. Before joining Waste Age as the magazine's managing editor, he was an associate editor for American City & County and for National Real Estate Investor.

Prior to joining Penton, Stephen worked as a reporter for The Marietta Daily Journal and The Fulton County Daily Report, both of which are located in metro Atlanta.

Stephen earned a BA in History from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
