Acquisitions

  • WCA Waste Corp., Houston, has completed the acquisition of a small collection company located outside of Springfield, Mo. The waste collected by the company will be disposed of in a landfill owned by WCA.

  • Wastequip Inc., Beachwood, Ohio, has purchased McLaughlin Refuse Equipment Inc., Lockeford, Calif. The company says that McLaughlin Refuse's current management will continue to lead the company.



Merger

  • Phoenix-based Greenleaf Compaction Inc. and Hartford, Conn.-based Oakleaf Waste Management have merged. Michael Macera, the founder of Greenleaf, will remain as the company's president and has joined Oakleaf's board of directors. Greenleaf rents containers, balers and other waste management and recycling equipment. Oakleaf provides “turn-key” waste management services to large, multi-location customers.

Before joining Waste Age as the magazine's managing editor, he was an associate editor for American City & County and for National Real Estate Investor.

Prior to joining Penton, Stephen worked as a reporter for The Marietta Daily Journal and The Fulton County Daily Report, both of which are located in metro Atlanta.

Stephen earned a BA in History from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
