  • Ohio Baler Co., Huron, Ohio, has been named a distributor for Harris Waste Management Group, Peachtree City, Ga., for Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

  • In-Situ Inc., Laramie, Wy., has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

  • Safety Vision, Houston, has reached the $100 million sales mark.

  • Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners (PVSC), Newark, N.J., in conjunction with the Passaic River/Newark Bay Restoration Program, has teamed up with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Clean Shores program for a series of shoreline cleanup projects.



Awards

  • Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure Inc., Baton Rouge, La., a subsidiary of the Shaw Group Inc., has received the fourth and fifth Department of Defense 2003 National Nunn-Perry awards for Excellence in Mentor-Protégé Programs.

  • Montenay Bay, Panama City, Fla., has received an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star award.



Certification

  • The wood procurement operations of Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., Chicago, have been certified under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 Environmental Management Standards and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Standards.



In Memoriam

  • Thomas B. Rumpke, co-owner and co-president of Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc., Cincinnati, died Jan. 4. He was 63. Rumpke's family started their waste and recycling business in 1932. In 1978, Tom and his brother, Bill, purchased Rumpke Inc. from their father, Bernard. Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc. serves Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and Indiana. Bill will remain president and chief executive officer. Financial contributions to the Thomas B. Rumpke Memorial Fund will be donated to the families of two Rumpke residential drivers who were involved in recent accidents.
