Announcements

  • Forest Concepts, Federal Way, Wash., has joined the King County, Wash.-based manufacturer-sponsored recycling program LinkUp. Forest Concepts develops wood-based erosion-control material.

  • The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), Sacramento, has announced that the city of San Jose diverted 64 percent of its waste in 2000.

  • Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill., has completed construction of a 100-megawatt power plant in Azua, Dominican Republic.



Call for Papers

  • The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Columbus, is requesting proposals for a state litter study that will be conducted during fall 2003 and spring 2004. For details, call Jan Voelker, technical and program assistance unit manager, at (614) 265-6368.

  • The Indiana Department of Commerce Energy Policy Division, Indianapolis, is requesting pre-proposal program summaries from companies interested in Recycling Market Development Program grants. The funds encourage an increased use of recycled products. Proposal guidelines may be found at www.CommerceRecycles.in.gov.



Grants

  • Earth Pledge, a New York-based environmental nonprofit group, has received a $65,000 Innovative Work Group Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington D.C., and $15,000 from the Albany-based New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
