12 Noon - 5 p.m. Technical Tour: Garland, Texas, LFG Recovery Facility The city of Garland, Texas Solid Waste Department needed to install a landfill gas collection system on its Castle Road Landfill and wanted to use the landfill gas captured in this system. The Garland Water Recycling Department also wanted to use the residual biosolids from its anaerobic digester after coming off the belt filter presses.

But before it could be used, this material had to be dried to comply with 503 regulations. Consequently, Zahren Alternative Power Corp. (Zapco) formed a partnership with the city to accomplish both objectives after the rights were awarded through a public bidding process.
