The Washington-based Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) has begun production on a safety video for transfer station employees. The video, which will debut at WasteExpo 2006 on April 4-7 in Las Vegas, will focus on training, communication, traffic safety and personal protective equipment. EIA will hold an education session at the show to premiere the video and to distribute related educational materials.

Production of the video is being funded by a Susan Harwood Training Grant grant that the Alexandria, Va.-based Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) received from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Washington. EREF has contracted with EIA to produce solid waste safety videos since receiving its first Harwood grant in 2000.

Previous video topics include hazards faced on residential collection routes and landfill employee safety.
