Work It

Article-Work It

Surly supermodel naomi campbell, who was sentenced to a week of work with the New York Department of Sanitation (DSNY) after assaulting her maid with a crystal-encrusted cell phone, seemed determined serve her debt to society in style. Arriving and departing in a gorgeous new outfit each day, Campbell played to the press and onlookers, only changing into her standard-issue reflective DSNY vest, stretch pants, combat boots and dust mask once inside. There, according to DSNY Deputy Chief Albert Durrell, Campbell did a commendable job of sweeping garage floors, mopping and sweeping hallways and scrubbing toilets. Durrell said she showed up on time all week and worked her complete 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. shift, pausing only to share pizza with co-workers.

Moreover, it appears Campbell may have the last laugh, using her penance as an opportunity to model couture by Ralph Lauren and Dolce & Gabbana for a 20-page feature in the July issue of W magazine and netting herself a tidy $465,000.
