Litter at 50,000 Feet

For Northwest Airlines flight attendant Cindy Salsbery, the skies between Memphis, Tenn., and Owensboro, Ky., are not so friendly.

On October 6, returning home aboard a small commercial flight, two professional motorcycle racers and their entourage allegedly threw trash and obscenities at Salsbery to protest a lack of air conditioning and drinks.

When the pilot heard the commotion, he called for police to meet the plane. Investigators found the cabin littered with trash and detained 10 of the plane's 16 passengers, including racers Nicky and Roger Lee Hayden.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Louisville, Ky., has forwarded its findings to the U.S. Attorney's office in Louisville. If the U.S. Attorney's office decides to file charges, these racers may get a harsh lesson in littering.
