Hitching a Ride

In January, Hamilton Township, N.J., Mayor Glen Gilmore helped municipal workers clean up uncollected garbage during a strike against Houston-based Waste Management Inc. by Teamster Local 701 members. Waste Management used replacement workers and, as of late January, the nearly-month-old strike had not been resolved. According to The Trentonian newspaper, collection problems had largely been corrected by the end of January.

Before joining Waste Age as the magazine's managing editor, he was an associate editor for American City & County and for National Real Estate Investor.

Prior to joining Penton, Stephen worked as a reporter for The Marietta Daily Journal and The Fulton County Daily Report, both of which are located in metro Atlanta.

Stephen earned a BA in History from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
