In Karnataka, India, several people have been hospitalized, and one passed away, due to drinking water that was contaminated by leachate from community dump yards.

One person has died, and several others hospitalized, after consuming contaminated water in the Belagavi district of Karnataka, India. The water was contaminated by leachate traced back to several dump yards around the borewells. State officials suggested villagers remove these dump yards as a means of preventing future leachate issues. They also urged residents to only drink water from the state-installed Reverse Osmosis unit in the village.
