Residents living near Central Maui landfill are concerned officials aren't doing enough to keep trash from littering the area. Videos of swirling trash have been circulating social media. 

Eric Nakagawa, the county’s Department of Environmental Management Director, attributed the issue to the landfill being located in a windy area. He said when hauler tip their loads, plastic bags and other items fly away.

Clean-up crews say that they come every weekday, but that is not enough to mitigate the situation.
