New Hampshire's governor Chris Sununu vetoed a bill regarding the scientific criteria necessary to site landfills in the state. The piece of legislation that was vetoed made it so that a landfill could not be placed in areas where the contaminated water running off from the site would not reach any major body of water in five years. After this veto, Amherst Representative Megan Murray did not give up. The proposed piece of legislation requires a groundwater study prior to permission to site a landfill.
