Home improvement retailer, Lowe’s Canada, is focused on diverting dangerous products from landfills.
The company has been recognition for its household battery collection and recycling efforts. In 2019, the company recycled more than 255,000 pounds of batteries. And since 2001, Lowe’s Canada has contributed to the diversion of more than 1.9 million pounds of batteries from landfills (Call2Recycle Canada).
Last year, Lowe’s Canada recovered nearly six million pounds of paint and over 200,000 pounds of CFL bulbs and fluorescent tubes. The stores also offer cardboard, paper, plastic, wood, and metal recycling. By 2030, Lowe’s Canada intends to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent below its 2016 levels.
