France's Waga Energy will produce biomethane from raw biogas at a Spanish landfill.

In 2022, 70 GWh per year of biomethane will be injected into the gas network of the Spanish operator Nedgia under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The Waga unit will increase energy yields and will avoid the emission of 17,000 mt per year of CO2 by substituting renewable gas for natural gas in the system.

Waga also operates Spain’s first landfill gas injection project financed by a long-term power purchase agreement in Europe.
